CAHP 32nd Annual Conference
October 9-11, 2017 - Hyatt Huntington Beach

Health coverage in California reached a high of 90% of our state population in 2016 and most of that coverage was provided by California’s health plans.  Health plans were focused on building on those coverage gains by providing access to quality care that is affordable while the change in the Presidency casted uncertainty for the future.

CAHP and its member plans demonstrated our commitment to improving our health care system by supporting the passage of a Managed Care Organization tax to stabilize funding in our state Medi-Cal program.   We also fought to protect and improve care coordination in the Cal Mediconnect program and highlighted the crisis of high priced drugs.  The Legislature passed several new bills requiring a multitude of changes and adjustments for plans and our relationships with providers.

The Department of Managed Health Care is moving forward with a host of new regulations and guidance on new laws like provider directories, network reviews, non-contracted provider reimbursement and much more.

The Department of Health Care Services continues to roll out new initiatives for managed care plans, which now serve over 80% of the 14 million Medi-Cal lives. Such initiatives include Whole Person Care pilots, Health Homes, program updates to the Coordinated Care Initiative, enrollment of children regardless of immigration status, and changes to the delivery of services under California Children’s Services (CCS).

Covered California continues to push for affordable coverage while demanding more from its Qualified Health Plans.

Join over 1000 health care professionals to learn how health plans in California are dealing with change, taking on new responsibilities for the state, implementing laws and regulations, and planning for the future.
